Coloured Contact Lenses Without Prescription – the Guide
In short: Coloured contact lenses without prescription (0.00 dioptres, also called plano or cosmetic lenses) change your eye colour but do not correct vision. Freshlens lenses are soft yearly lenses made of hydrogel with 40 % water content, base curve 8.6 mm and a diameter of 14.0 to 14.5 mm. A pair costs €17.90 to €24.90. We ship from Germany with DHL: €3.29 within Germany (free from €29, 2–4 working days) and €5.99 to other EU countries. Unopened items can be returned within 30 days. For dark eyes choose opaque (strong coverage) lenses; for light eyes natural designs also work well.
What are coloured contact lenses without prescription?
They are soft contact lenses with a coloured iris pattern and a clear centre over the pupil. With 0.00 dioptres they only change or enhance your eye colour – for everyday wear, photos, weddings, parties or costumes. Because they sit directly on the eye, hygiene and correct handling matter just as much as with corrective lenses (see How to wear coloured lenses safely).

Natural or strong coverage?
Natural lenses have a slightly transparent pattern that blends with your own eye colour – a clear change on blue, green, grey or light brown eyes, a subtle glow on very dark eyes. Examples: Forest Fantasy, Irish Green, Gemstone Blue, Secret Gray.
Strong-coverage lenses use a denser pattern that visibly covers even dark brown eyes. Examples: the Dawn collection (Gray, Green, Blue, Brown), Fog Fantasy Gray, Oasis Jade Green, Taylor Blue-Gray. More: Coloured lenses for brown eyes.
Yearly, monthly or daily lenses?
- Yearly lenses (like Freshlens) can be used for up to 12 months after opening if cleaned and stored in fresh solution after each wear – the most affordable choice for regular or occasional use.
- Monthly lenses are replaced after 30 days.
- Daily lenses are thrown away after one day – handy for a single event, more expensive over time.

- Your own lens case and a solution for soft lenses – never tap water.
FAQ
Do I need a prescription for coloured lenses without power?
No, not in Germany. If you have never worn contact lenses or have sensitive eyes, a short consultation with an optician or eye doctor is still a good idea.
Do coloured contact lenses look natural?
From a normal distance, good coloured lenses look natural. Natural designs blend with your own colour; strong-coverage lenses are more visible on dark eyes but keep a realistic look thanks to the dark limbal ring.
How long can I wear coloured lenses per day?
Start with a few hours and increase slowly; a guideline is up to about 8 hours a day. Remove them immediately if your eyes burn, itch or turn red, and never sleep in them.
Do you ship outside Germany?
Yes, to 26 EU countries including Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy and Poland for €5.99.
Can I return contact lenses?
Yes, unopened items in original packaging within 30 days. Opened lenses cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.
